  • PAIDEIA, Inc. continues offering ZOOMFEST sessions on Thursday, May 28, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time

Since May 14, PAIDEIA, Inc. has been conducting weekly ZOOM presentations.  Our format consists of discussion-and-          dialogue among on-the-job independent school educators. This week’s theme calls for full-speed-ahead planning and            funding for your school’s return and re-engagement by parents and their children and by every member of your board,        administration, and faculty. See our EVENTS page for more information.

Our topic is “Return and Reengagement”

  • PAIDEIA, Inc. Annual Salary Survey 2019-2020 now available for purchase: $25.00 payable by check to PAIDEIA, Inc.

Each year, PAIDEIA, Inc. collects, compiles, and publishes an anonymous and confidential report on salaries (cash only, no benefits) paid to

  •     Head of school

  •     Rookie teacher (no prior professional experience)

  •     Veteran teacher (after stipulated number of years)

  •     Development/advancement officer (with the total amount of funds raised)

  •     Chief academic officer (assistant head, dean, grade-level principal, curriculum specialist)

  •     Chief financial officer/business manager

  •     Athletic director

Our data are reported in two formats: (1) by region and (2) by size of budget.

To obtain these data, PAIDEIA, Inc. solicits information from current and former clients, promising to preserve the anonymity and privacy of their numbers.  As an exception to this confidentiality, we urge each head of school participating to show the report to the board chair for purposes of information and enlightenment—since many board members are unaware of “fair market value” in the sphere of Christian schooling.  PAIDEIA, Inc. asks for concrete results, if any, of sharing these data with the board chair.

In addition, because of the acute disparity between what rookie teachers and their underpaid veteran colleagues now receive, PAIDEIA, Inc. continues to campaign for Christian school boards to address this issue and develop a financial model that will adequately compensate those who have served for 25-30-35-and more years at below “food stamps” wages.  While some schools are showing signs of earnest progress, far too many admit to having either an across-the-board-1% or 2% increase or no plan at all.

Non-participants in the PAIDEIA, Inc. Annual Salary Survey may purchase and receive a pdf copy after the report has been distributed to participants.  The same promise to preserve anonymity and confidentiality is demanded of non-participants.  To receive an invitation to participate next year, contact

  • In 1952, Dr. Frank E. Gaebelein, founding headmaster of The Stony Brook School, delivered lectures at both Dallas Theological Seminary and Denver Seminary.  From these lectures developed his benchmark book The Pattern of God’s Truth: Problems of Integration in Christian Education, first published in 1954 by Oxford University Press.  Since then this remarkable book has never been out of print.  It continues to inform and challenge teachers in Christian schools, colleges/universities, and seminaries.
